Tony Savino has an extensive background in woodworking. At the young age of 14 he learned many of his skills working for one of the best finish carpenters in the area. As he progressed through school he attended many shop classes in junior and high schools including woodworking. He and his wife to be built their kitchen table before they were married, and made additional furniture still in use at his home.
Starting his working career he managed the shop department where he, and his team, built specialized equipment for manufacturing. This process included woods, metals, for many moving and fuctional parts, additionally the electrical system needed to operate the equipment were also completed.
At the age of 24 he took a leading role at a different company where he, again, managed a shop. This company had an ever changing product line, and (mostly wooden) production fixtures were required for every new project. In his 30’s he attended Gateway Technical College and earned an Associate Degree, and once completed, he attended Upper Iowa University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree (both degrees with honors).
With the added education he took on new roles in managing staff including the shop, the warehouse, and material handlers. He then took on production management. The production management position worked with just about every type of manufacturing material and processes with the skills to bring those processes together to complete project was a fun endeavor. His final position working for another company was a role of Operations Manager.
Retirement just wasn’t for Tony, so he started making acoustic guitars. Learning from many sources he made his first guitar and gave it to his daughter for her birthday. A dear friend, Jeff Klyzub, taught him many things about guitars, and did quality checks to help Tony learn from any small issues on the first couple guitars. After his completion of his first build, Jeff exclaimed, "this is as good as a builder's tenth guitar. Further, Andrew Madsen also had a hand in my learning about building guitars (especially bending sides). Tony has done some guitar repair work for clients, too.
On July 31, 2023, A. R. Savino delivered two guitars to his first distributor The Music Café, 105 Fox St., Mukwonago, WI 53149. Only two days after delivering those guitars, one of them sold within two days of delivery.
Tony has handcrafted special order custom Dreadnought, OOO and Orchestra Model acoustic guitars for clients, and also handcrafts stock guitars for inventory and sales in Sturtevant, and at the Music Café in Mukwonago.
